Grammys red carpet is known for its quirky and daring fashion. In my opinion, it showcases the fun side of fashion. As the event isn't very black tie, guests are much free to wear what they want, Except for a little memo which mentioned that "buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered". That being said, let's check out the photos. I tried to categorize them in color, "tried" I say.
Black
A very safe color but with the right style and silhouette,
it can take you to the best dressed list in no time.
Jennifer Lopez, wore a black Anthony Vaccarello Spring 2013 dress with an exposed leg. It's basically a one-shouldered, one-legged dress with a slit/slot to show off your right leg. She added some shine with multiple rings, stacked bangles, a metal-accented heels and a matching Jimmy Choo ‘Charlize’ clutch. Hot!
Alicia Keys also wore black. She dons a Azzedine Alaia with a croc-embossed top and a fish-tail skirt with an interesting silhouette. I think this is one of her best red carpet looks.
After her fantastic Super Bowl perfomance, Beyoncé went low-key in a black-and-white jumpsuit by Osman. She also wore matching B&W bangles on both wrists, Jimmy Choo ‘Kalpa’ sandals and carried Swarovski’s ‘Gemma’ clutch.
I'm a little on the fence about this look. What do you think?
B's long time friend went all out, super sexy in a Georges Chakra gown from the Spring 2013 Couture collection. Kelly Rowland looks amazing in the black cut-out, sheer panelled dress. She pairs it with Lorraine Schwartz jewels in emerald. Who say's black is boring?
Another Kelly stepped out in black, Kelly Osbourne wore another cut out dress this time by Paula Ka. H Stern jewels completes her look.
A stunning Christine Teigen wore a two-piece black lace Joy Ciocci dress.
If you are wondering who she might be, three words, Mrs. John Legend. Well plus another three words, soon to be.
Janelle Monae steps out in an embellished black pant suit.
She pairs it with black heels, clutch and hat. Black...
Man of the Moment, Justin Timberlake looked very dapper in a Tom Ford Suit & Tie.
Pun intended!
Green
2013's color of the year, I am loving green with the red carpet.
It is quite festive and equally refreshing.
Leading the green team is Katy Perry in a heavily embellished key-hole accented mint green dress from Gucci's Resort 2013 collection. She looks fresh and a uhm, chesty, and her natural looking make-up doesn't do much to distract the audience to look up on her face. Anyway...
Solange Knowles looks fierce in a green gown by Ralph & Russo Couture, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and neon Louboutins. The shoes add some major quirk with its color and spikes. Good call!
Florence Welch rocks a custom Givenchy and matching clutch. Not my favorite look on one of my favorite musical artist. It looks a bit dated though the oversized studs are quite interesting. A similar gown is from Givenchy's fall 2009 couture show done in black at that time. Go Google.
Red
Red is hard to pull off on a red carpet as it might match the carpet a little too much.
Let's see how the stars made it work.
Crowd-favourite Adele, wore a custom Valentino, which looks like a shorter version of a Spring 2013 Couture dress. Not a very safe style but I am loving it. The print and the length helps make her stand out from the red carpet. Props to her and to winning Best Solo Performance for Set Fire to the Rain (Live) as well.
Singer Skylar Gray's red dress from Giorgio Armani looks amazing on her. Though the side boob might be not sit well with Grammy's fashion memo.
Rihanna dons a sexy, flowy custom Azzedine Alaia for the red carpet.
She looks stunning and very sophisticated, I must say.
And here are a few more red carpet looks which I couldn't categorize per color. Sorry.
Taylor Swift looks cute in a flowy white J Mendel dress with metallic accents.
Maybe I should file this under "Cute". Alexa Chung looks adorable in a RED Valentino dress. She paired the daisy printed dress with gray sparkly pump.
Another cutie, Carly Rae Jepsen works a shiny Roberto Cavalli gown in gray.
They say she looks edgy and sexy but she's still call her a cutie.
Rounding up the cute category is model Karlie Kloss. She dons a bright blue Michael Kors cut out dress. Her flirty hair added some sass and spice to her look.
Ending this post with Estelle who helped design the midriff baring dress. Although not a lot of people were a fan of the dress, I thought it looked perfect on her. The quirky print matched with the conservative silhouette is a nice combination. Thoughts?
See yah later!
